Old Age Home

25% of elders in urban india are abused by their sons or daughters-in-law

The abandoned elderly are often found on streets, in trains stations and even dumped at temples. Many are ill, have little money and have age-related issues. Often it takes weeks and months to reveal the painful truth of how they werre abandoned by their own.

Why are elders being abandoned ?

Poverty & Poor healthcare

Inadequate social pensions & healthcare force many elders to rely on families. Deteriorating health of the aging adds to the strain on household finances, often leading to abuse & widows.

Changing family structures

The traditional hoint family system in india had room for elders who were cared for by multiple gererations. Rapid urbanisation has led to the rise of nuclear farilies, leaving elders isolated, neglected or abandoned.
